Hello Capt. Hogland,
I love sharing great stories.
While we so appreciate all the CHP officers that visit, patrol, and are stationed here during filming in our Piru Community, sometimes great stories emerge.
Officer Luis Godinez was stationed tonight at the corner of Main and Center during a street closure for the HBO Max production of Lanterns. During that assignment, he was out and about talking with residents, and in one instance saw one of our seniors struggling to walk up Center Street. Without a 2nd thought, Officer Godinez quickly crossed the street and assisted the senior up the hill. It is SO great to have that type of kind and above and beyond assistance occur in our town, and it was only minutes after that support, that Roy Ruiz, one of our CERT members flagged me down to share this story. Roy took the attached selfie of himself and Officer Godinez.

Filming and the income and excitement it brings to our community is so wonderful. Having your officers out and interacting with our community is the icing on the cake.
I knew you would want to hear this wonderful story.
Because they also love great stories,
I’m also sharing with the head of filming for Ventura County, Bill Bartels, David Yoshitomi, County of Ventura Arts and Culture, and Michael Durazo, Field Representative to Supervisor Kelly Long, 3rd district.
